Trip Advisor (29/1/09)

The average† “overall rating” this hotel receives is 4.7 out of 5.

All but three of the reviews gave Grand Rotana Resort & Spa Sharm El Sheikh 5 out of 5, which is fairly impressive. The resort, staff, rooms, accommodation and food received lots of positive comments.  Some reviewers considered that the hotel is not really for those who are looking to party all night, although Pulse, the on site nightclub can acter for those wanting a jig.  If you want to relax and have a quiet drink then the Grand Rotana Resort & Spa Sharm El Sheikh Sky Lounge is a great for enjoying a selection of shishas, Arabic teas and flavoured vodkas.

However, there were some small criticisms, or tips if we are kind, which should be useful to those who have not booked their holiday yet.  The mini bar in the room is very expensive so some recommended the old BYO, so make sure you fill your boots at duty free if you like a wee tipple.  A couple of reviewers thought that the full board option did not represent value for money as you were limited to the eating at the main restaurant which is buffet.   The resort is on many levels and some reviewers thought that the large number of steps would make the resort unsuitable for small children and those who have a problem with mobility.  The beach was well received for sunbathing but some thought it not ideal for kids to play on as the sand is not that soft.

Other tips – don’t book a marine trip with the man on the resort, it’s very expensive and the sea life at the end of the jetty is just as good as any trip.

One of the guests listed prices at the Grand Rotana Resort & Spa Sharm El Sheikh (Winter 2008), I don’t know how exact these are but they can’t be too far off the mark.
